Skin Deep

Surely some overworked (times being what they are in the news business) editor mistakenly placed the article about breast-feeding in the Fashion & Style section (under the column heading: Skin Deep) of todays New York Times. Certainly it would have destined for the Heath pages. But, no, upon closer examination, this is apparently a cosmetic issue for this particular writer, who starts the story by profiling a mom who enthusiastically breastfed until she'd slimmed down to a size 4. OHHH, the article goes one, and those moms who can slip right into their pre-pregnancy jeans. Funny, that took me two years. Actresses Angelina Jolie and Rebecca Romijn credit breast-feeding for reshaping their svelte bods but I bet there was more to it than that.

I'm sure breast-feeding supporters think any press is good press, but there's just something off-playing into the pressure to become a "yummy mummy."
Skin Deep. I expect more depth from the NYT. If you want to check the article out for yourself here it is.
